Don't stop at photo delivery

If you think your process and income stop once you deliver photos to your client, you are limiting yourself!

When you photograph a space, there are so many installers, designers, contractors, and brands that are involved in creating the final design.

Each of these folks has marketing needs that include photos of their projects.

This is where you come in.

Standard practice for most interior shoots is that you, as photographer, keep the copyright (ownership) of the photos. Your clients who hired you are paying for the work involved in doing the shoot and the licensing of the final images that you deliver to them.

But as copyright holder, you can still license those images to other people!

This photo could potentially be licensed to the interior designer, architect, general contractor, bar stool brand, ceiling fan brand, cabinet maker, and tile company.

When you license photos to other businesses after the photoshoot, that's typically referred to as "third party licensing".

The great thing about third party licensing is that you can do this at any time. It could be with a project that you photographed last year! But as long as the photos bring value to the business that you're licensing them to, then there's no expiration date.

Looking into additional licensing is a great way to diversify your income streams, increase revenue, and serve even more people by properly licensing images to them.

We go into this more in-depth in our Business of Interior Photography Masterclass, but you can get an overview and some tips to get started in our Field Note all about how to Leverage Each Photoshoot with Photo Licensing.

Meet Tori + Amanda!

Meet Tori from the Northeast!

No doubt Tori was influenced as a young child by her dad's work with Conde Nast, but we absolutely love that she especially focuses on showing off the work of female designers. Yessss! Cheers to bringing humor and music to your work, Tori, all while creating gorgeous images!

Meet Amanda from Toronto!

A fellow architect by training, Amanda is all about finding beauty in the everyday. She also brings a passion for seeing the impact that our build environment has on our daily lives, which I'm sure fuels her well for her work as part of the incredible duo Doublespace Photography, with partner Younes Bounhar. Amanda does a beautiful job of creating powerful compositions that have a haunting stillness to them.
