If you've every had a designer tell you "Oh, by the way, my contractor wanted to get copies of these photos. How does that work?" Or if you ever learned after the shoot that a client sold copies of the photos to their contractor (yep, this one actually happened to me! Unbelievable!!)
Then you want to have a policy in place for cost-sharing.
Cost-sharing is simply a rate structure that lets you bring in more than one party (client) to share the cost of a photoshoot.
It's not as easy as just splitting your day rate by 2 or 3...
Let's break it down in this Field Note. And next time someone just "wants a copy of the photos", you can let them know what your cost-sharing policies are. |
