On the New Year's Day episode of Quantum Alchemy Radio the subject was Soul Astrology and the first question that host Anya Sophia Mann asked was, "So Ruth, why are we here?" Well there's a big question to start the New Year! Saints, mystics, yogis and spiritual seekers have been wrestling with this one for centuries and yet, from a certain perspective, it can be very simple.

At a very simple level, there is an answer if we look at it within the context of nature. Aren't we here, to simply fulfill our potential? To unfold and truly be what we may become? Where humans are concerned, this seems almost impossibly complex, because we naturally view everything from the perspective of a human mind - and THAT's complex!
If we stick to nature, it IS simple. I used this analogy on the show: imagine if a little acorn asked you "why am I here?" You'd answer immediately, without hesitation, and your answer would be very simple. Well OK so first you might say, "Wow! A talking acorn!" but after that you might say, "It's obvious - you're here to be an Oak Tree".
Us humans like to think there's something more important than just being human. As if being human somehow isn't enough - but that's just it...
there IS nothing more important than being human! If we think that's boring then we're missing the point about how amazing we are, as beings of light! In order to reach our full potential, we have to pay attention to our inner journey so we may realize who we truly are, know this truth for ourselves, and access our full power as spiritual beings.
It is said that the Buddha and Christ are examples of 'perfected' humans. Using our acorn analogy they would be acorns that have grown to full maturity and blossomed, as Oak trees. Once we reach the height of our own spiritual maturity, we blossom and emit the spiritual 'perfume' of joy, love, peace and compassion: the 'highest qualities' of humanity. Each of us is already somewhere along the path to as we pass through the stages of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development.
