| Life's Greatest Adventure!

On Saturday the Sun entered Virgo then on Monday we had the New Moon in Virgo. The New Moon is the beginning of the Moon's cycle and so the theme is always about new beginnings. In this case with the New Moon in Virgo, and Virgo being associated with purification, health and healing, it is the perfect time to address any health issues and apply ourselves to our own healing process.

| | Our modern word healing comes from the same root as the word 'whole' which has it's roots in the Old English word haelan: "to make whole". Often when we think of 'making whole' we think of something as being broken into pieces, which need to be put back together again, but in the case of Virgo it is more about the healing that arises from purification. Rather than 'making' whole it is more like returning to something that already exists, our innate wholeness.
All spiritual traditions speak of wholeness, unity consciousness, oneness, connectedness. In Esoteric Astrology the Tibetan, Master DK, says that all dis-ease comes from separation. Spiritual Masters tell us that we are all connected and that separation is an illusion created by our mind. When we speak of purification in this sense, we are speaking of 'purification of the mind'. In other words freeing ourselves from the illusions that keep us from experiencing ourselves as whole.
In Esoteric Astrology Virgo is associated with the Virgin Mother and the Christ child. In the Tibetan tradition of Dzogchen the symbolism of Mother and Child is used to explain how phenomena arise from 'primordial consciousness'. The Mother being primordial consciousness itself, and the child being awareness. As we progress on our spiritual journey we have individual experience, which allows us to realize our true nature as awareness, and eventually our consciousness returns to wholeness. The child returns to the Mother. Hence the sign of Virgo is also associated with synthesis.
This process of returning to wholeness happens in cycles. Astrology is all about observing cycles: cycles of time, cycles of nature. When we move away fro separation and return to wholeness, we no longer see seperate 'events' but rather a continuous process of unfolding and overlapping cycles. There are cycles within cycles and although we are all at different stages of the journey, each of us will always be in some stage of healing, at any given point.
As our Soul journeys through the twelve Zodiac signs, it is completing a major cycle that unfolds over a very long time, in human terms, possibly spending up to 7 or 8 lifetimes in each sign. Yet there are also cycles that we will experience in life on a much smaller scale. Both Virgo and Scorpio are associated with healing, yet they are not separate. A process that begins in Virgo, continues through Libra into Scorpio. In Virgo we 'purify'. In other words we release, let go, unburden ourselves from all that we are carrying that is no longer serving our highest and best good. This can be bad habits, limiting beliefs, judgement, any 'mental' concepts that we have picked up along the way and are still carrying.
The personality ruler of Virgo is Mercury. So there is a 'mental' aspect to Virgo, yet Virgo is the mutable earth sign. So it is part of our work during Virgo Season to 'ground' 'mental concepts' like a lightening conductor! Exercising judgement in the form of discernment is part of this process: as we decide which 'mental concepts' are of value in that they support our growth, and so are to be applied in practice, and which 'mental concepts' are to be allowed to return to earth and be released, because they no longer serve our highest and best good. This is the deep purification that we can experience in Virgo if we are alert, mindful and aware.
The purification that begins in Virgo, leads to balancing and harmonizing in Libra ready for deep personal transformation and healing in Scorpio. This healing happens on mental, emotional and physical levels. This week we can experience the emotional stage of this cycle as the New Moon on Monday began in Virgo. Today (Wednesday) the Moon takes us into the Libra (balancing) stage of the cycle, and then on Saturday the Moon moves into Scorpio to deepen this stage of our healing journey before moving into Sagittarius on Monday September 1st.
We also experience the same cycle on a physical level over the next three months as the Sun (vitality and life-force energy) moves through Virgo, Libra and then Scorpio. Cycles within cycles. This is how our healing process continually unfolds. There is much potential for healing and spiritual growth over the coming months. To gain the most benefit at this time draw upon the highest qualities of Virgo: be pure in your intentions, exercise discernment, stay grounded, and flow Divine Love into the world!
