Life's Greatest Adventure! | | | | Hi Friend,
This week I was interviewed by Anya Sophia Mann, Editor of Life Coaching Magazine (LCM), for the "AUTHORS behind the scenes" section. During
the interview I was very aware of an old pattern in me for 'going off
at a tangent' (and not always getting back to the point I was going to
make)! One of the most helpful things about knowing our Soul Astrology is that it places our personal struggles, challenges, or 'weaknesses' within an overall context of meaning, significance, and purpose. This is why having the 'big picture' - the overview of your Soul sign and personality signs is important, then within that big picture, your other chart details are showing you stuff that is being worked on and worked out.
In my horoscope I have Jupiter opposing Mercury which means at best I can swing between expansiveness and mental agility, at worst I can feel flooded with information. The challenge is to integrate these qualities, so that expansive information can be processed and presented in a coherent and detailed way. Since you can't stem the tide, you might as well just ride out the flood and then once the tide recedes go beachcombing to pick out the treasure!
Knowing our overall Soul purpose places our challenges in perspective. As a Cancer Soul my Soul's purpose is to flow
compassion into the world (Cancer Soul), which it does through writing, speaking,
communicating (Gemini Sun) and creative self-expression (Leo Moon). Within that context, this particular Jupiter-Mercury challenge allows me to process an ocean of information and then highlight the important bits, for the purpose of determining what is helpful for our journey. Without the bigger picture what good is it to know you have Jupiter opposing Mercury? It is meaningless.
Watch the video on LCM and you can see it all at work: the Gemini use of language, the Leo expressiveness, and even the Jupiter-Mercury challenge as I sometimes 'struggle' to distill an ocean of information into what is most relevant! All are 'tools' used for the Cancer Soul's overall purpose of bringing more compassion.
Of course your own self-observation and mindfulness are important to cultivate the awareness necessary to see dynamic patterns in yourself. Then look at your own Soul sign and within that bigger picture, you will see how everything fits into place to support you and how your challenges can become your strengths.
