| Life's Greatest Adventure!

And miles to go before I sleep."- Robert FrostLast week the Sun entered Scorpio (October 23rd marking the beginning of this year's Scorpio Season. This can be a difficult time of the year for many people - the month of November is often associated with death - and yet in many cultures around the world there are often festivals of light held at this time, like the Hindu festival of Diwali. Scorpio is associated with sex and death: conception, progeneration and regeneration. Death and rebirth. In Robert Frost's poem (above) there is almost a seductiveness around the temptation to lie down in the snow and die. Scorpio reminds us of cycles: cycles of life and death and when we embrace the energy of Scorpio it becomes a beautiful process of healing and transformation.As I mentioned on my Facebook page (see "SCORPIO: DEATH AND REGENERATION") many people are uncomfortable with the depth and intensity around Scorpio, and I wonder if this is more about our unwillingness to face our fears and scratch beneath the surface of our superficial modern lives. Yet if we have the courage to go deeper there is something beautiful in the natural process of death and rebirth.For me Frost's poem is about letting go. Letting go and letting ourselves fall into the abyss... and then what? Then we will know. Then we will know what happens next! This is one of the greatest hallmarks of Scorpio - the deep fascination with all things that most people would rather avoid - the darker side of human nature. The very things that we are unable to be with in others, are those issues that are, as yet, unresolved within ourselves.
So when we find it difficult to be with the intensity of our Scorpio friends, it is only ever an opportunity to look within and see what it is in ourselves that we aren't willing to face.
By going deeply within on our inner journey and discovering the point of light within the darkness. No, this doesn't mean lying down in the snow, but it does mean a deep process of letting go. As we let go of all the layers of false beliefs and identities that we have gathered around ourselves, like peeling the layers of an onion, we eventually reach the very core of who we are and discover that it is light. This is the point of transformation that is the highest purpose of Scorpio. Through this self-exploration process we reach a place of deep inner peace. We realize that the beautiful, peaceful, silence is not in the snowy woods, but has always been right here inside us all along. We never know this until we look. This deep peace IS who we really are. It is the eternal peace that cannot be disturbed, and we don't have to die to find it, we only have to look deeper.See you next time, and in the meantime... happy exploring! Best Wishes, Ruth
