Life's Greatest Adventure! February 3rd 2016 Hi Friend, Today the Sun was shining (a pretty rare occurrence for this time of year in the north of England). It made me smile and feel warm inside, which is what the Sun does. When the Sun shines, we can feel love and feel loving but it's not like romantic love. When the Sun shines we feel an expansive kind of love for all humanity. Well, at least that's my experience, but then my Sun is conjunct Venus! So I thought it would be fun this week to take a look at how we each experience the Sun as individuals. What does the Sun really symbolize... and what can it tell us about our spiritual journey? The Sun is one of the main 'personality' signs. Our Soul's energy and purpose is indicated by the Rising Sign (ascendant) but that energy is focused through the 'lens' of our personality signs - the main ones being our Sun and Moon sign. Our Sun sign symbolizes how we flow our pranic energy - basically how we flow our life force energy into the world. It symbolizes prana, vitality, life-force energy... and love. Esoterically the Sun (along with Jupiter) is on the second ray of 'love-wisdom': 'the path of love'. The love that we speak of in this sense, is Universal Love ...and Life. It's helpful to make that distinction because we can also associate the Moon with love... but the kind of love indicated by the Moon is emotional love. In terms of our emotional security the Moon shows how we love and like to be loved, whereas the Sun is showing us how life flows through us, and how we flow life into our world. The zodiac sign that we find our Sun in will indicate the main way that we flow life into the world. For the fire signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius our energy flows through our actions. For the earth signs our energy flows through practical concerns. For the air signs our energy flows through thinking, and for the water signs our energy flows through our emotions. Having said that, we can look to the condition of the Sun to see whether the energy flows easily, or is impeded in some way. For example if you have a 12th house Sun, your energy can be easily dissipated in the 'ocean' of the 12th house - so you might find you have bursts of energy but 'fizzle out' quickly! If we have a good aspect to Mars (Mars indicates our physical energy, sexual energy, willpower, drive and motivation) by sextile, trine or conjunction, we might find we have a lot of power and energy to drive our projects and goals home. If we have a poor aspect to Mars (square or opposition) we might find that we get in our own way somehow... or that we don't seem to have the energy to carry our plans to fruition. The Sun helps us to flow the energy of our Soul into this lifetime. Often with Soul Astrology, what appears as a challenge to the personality, can be food for the Soul. So if we feel blocked in expressing our Sun sign vitality, it could mean that we are experiencing challenges at personality level that will somehow become a catalyst for our Soul's growth. Our Sun and Moon signs are among the easiest to get familiar with because we can observe how their energy plays out on a daily basis. Here's something you can try, to help you become more familiar with the energy of your Sun sign. If you haven't done so already, maybe create a journal in which you can record your Soul Astrology observations. Make a note of the 'condition' of your Sun: what sign? which house? and any positive or negative aspects. For the next seven days, watch how your Sun's energy - your vital energy - is flowing into the world. Does it flow easily? Do you feel blocked anywhere? Does it relate to the conditions you noted in your journal? If so, how? If not, what was different? Can you see how the energy of your Soul is being expressed through your Sun sign?
