Gemini-Sagittarius
The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity teaches us a lot about wisdom. If we have planets and points in Gemini or Sagittarius (or both) we are learning: what is wisdom? What is the distinction between information and knowledge? What is the distinction between knowledge and wisdom? ...and then, from an esoteric perspective, "What do we mean by Love-Wisdom?"
“In the beginning was the Word …” Gemini rules the breath, speech, languages, writing, communication, networks, and communion on all levels. Hidden within Gemini are the deepest mysteries of creation and destruction. The energy of Gemini both creates and dissolves polarities in the Universal dance of Creation, which was known to the Ancient Rishis of India as the “breathing in and out of Brahma.” Gemini is one of the most complex and contradictory signs of the Zodiac.
Gemini has a vital role to play in the process of resolving the six polarities in human consciousness. One mystery of Gemini – and there are many – is the resolution of polarities into Divine Union. Because of this unique function, Gemini is the only sign that has an esoteric connection with all the other signs of the Zodiac. Just like spinning an enormous web (or story), it is through Gemini that all is woven together at the end.
By the time the Divine Intelligence of Gemini has filtered through a human mind, it becomes one of the most complex, restless and difficult to handle energies of the Zodiac. You could be forgiven for thinking your Gemini friend has ADHD or is just plain crazy! As the mutable (changeable) air sign, the nature of Gemini is one of constant movement. To avoid being distracted by trivia, Gemini needs the determined focus and follow-through of its polar opposite, Sagittarius.
The sign of Sagittarius is associated with fun, gregariousness, optimism, friendliness, generosity, teaching, knowledge, philosophy and spiritual seeking. Welcome to the sign of great sages, wise-men (and women), and spiritual teachers. Known as the great philosophers of the Zodiac, our Sagittarian friends have a thirst for knowledge. They may not necessarily be hanging out in the halls of academia (although many are!) but nevertheless they are driven by a need to understand the Universe and everything in it.
The thirst for wisdom is innate in every Sagittarian. Indeed the term philosopher comes from the ancient Greek words philos (love of) and sophia (wisdom). The ego-trap for Sagittarius lies in mistaking mental concepts for spiritual truth. It is too easy for Sagittarius to confuse opinion with truth, and becoming attached to dogma can be a major pitfall for our Sagittarian friends. Man-made systems of knowledge, even the most ancient wisdom teachings, are only signposts pointing to spiritual truth. They are not truth itself.
“He who talks about truth injures it thereby;
He who tries to prove it thereby maims and distorts it;
He who gives it a label and a school of thought kills it;
And He who declares himself a believer buries it.”
-Lin Yutang
Esoterically Sagittarius is the first of the signs of service and the fully integrated Sagittarian is here to “uplift humanity through the revelation of truth and wisdom” . The highest octave of Sagittarius resonates with ultimate truth, freedom, and our highest spiritual goals, but before he can reach them our Sagittarian friend needs to transcend the ego-traps of the Sagittarian personality. To do that he needs the eclectic, all-embracing wisdom of his polar opposite Gemini, which will loosen his fixation on finding 'the-one-and-only-true' knowledge system or philosophy.
In balancing the Gemini-Sagittarius axis we are integrating the esoteric paths of idealism, knowledge, wisdom and love, to arrive at the true state of Divine Union, which the Tibetan Master DK called "Love-Wisdom."
