This month, on February 14th, it's Valentine's Day which most of us these days associate with romantic love and marriage.
Yet, if we step back a moment, our entire lives involve relationships of one sort or another. So this time of year is a perfect opportunity to broaden our thinking and explore the whole spectrum of relationship dynamics.
We have relationships with friends, family, co-workers, and often the most important people in our lives and/or those we spend the most time with, may not necessarily be a romantic partner.
From an astrological perspective, two of the most common ways to explore relationships are compatibility and relationship charts.
Compatibility (Synastry)
Chart comparison (traditionally called synastry) compares two people's charts and interprets areas of compatibility (or not)! This is helpful for seeing what energies are harmonious between two people, and the areas where they bump up against each other!
Relationship (Composite Chart)
A relationship chart (sometimes called a composite chart) blends the energies of two individual's and creates a third entity: the horoscope of the relationship itself. When we are in relationship, our energies blend together. We are never quite the same as when we are alone. In this approach the horoscope of the relationship itself is explored, so you can see the energy field that gets created by your combined energies.

Even though these reports are not based on Soul Astrology it is still possible to apply what you are learning about Soul Astrology to them. For example, you know the ascendant represents your Soul Sign, so by looking at the ascendant of a relationship chart, you can determine the 'soul' of the relationship itself! Likewise, by looking at the Sun and Moon signs, you can determine the 'personality' of the relationship!
For example, in the sample relationship report we might say that John Lennon and Yoko Ono's relationship had a Capricorn Soul. This is interesting because the highest Soul purpose of Capricorn is to create Heaven on Earth, and John and Yoko were known for using their relationship publicly as a platform to promote peace on Earth!
