The biggest news this week is that I have completed my latest eBook, "Soul Science: Soul Astrology- A Holistic Science For The Soul Age" It's actually a chapter that I'd previously contributed to a book, and now it's available as a stand alone. As we go deeper on our great adventure of self-exploration, one thing that happens is we increase our ability to be present with ourselves, and each other. Presence isn't something we normally think of or speak about in our everyday lives, yet we do notice when it is missing. We may feel a lack of connection, or just something that we can't put our finger on, but we know something is missing.Josh Freedman, CEO of the emotional intelligence training company Six Seconds, raised the question in his blog of whether we, as a society, have become more concerned with the image or appearance of something than the thing itself. He was visiting a temple in Japan when a party of schoolchildren and their teachers showed up, made alot of noise, took pictures, and left. They took no time to simply be present with the experience. On a similar note, in her latest book "Alone Together" psychologist Sherry Turkle explores the effect our technology has had on us and our societies. She noted how, during her research, she was sitting in a coffee shop that was full of people yet everyone was either on their Kindle, laptop, cellphone or texting. Even though she didn't know any of them personally, she missed their presence.This seems ironic in an age when more people than ever express an interest in spirituality, or is it that the increased interest in spirituality is fuelled by our increasing sense of disconnection? If our technology is leading us farther and farther away from our connectedness, maybe the call of our soul is getting louder, calling us to come home and be present!Speaking of connection and presence, the spiritual community at Findhorn in Scotland, UK celebrated their 50th birthday this month and German filmmaker Olina Lorencova was there to capture it on film. Watching this video is a reminder that we can and do know how to live in connection and community. Findhorn is only one example of may worldwide intentional communities that exist for the purpose of living our lives in a spiritually centered and connected way.So that's all for now.
