Today the Sun enters Gemini (Wednesday May 21st at 03.39 BST/02.39GMT) marking the beginning of this month's Gemini Season. If you don't have any personal planets in Gemini KEEP READING - this also means you! At this time of year Gemini themes are uppermost in the consciousness of humanity - we are all influenced in some way or another by the energy of Gemini during Gemini Season. If you have personal planets in Gemini, these themes will be more prominent in the expression of your life purpose, and will be guiding your personal and professional life in some way.

| If you have Gemini Rising you are on the Soul Path of Gemini, and Gemini themes are guiding your spiritual development. If you have no planets in Gemini, look at your natal chart and see which house cusp is in Gemini. The house after the cusp will indicate the area of your life where Gemini themes are coloring your world. For example if you have Gemini between the 4th and 5th houses, Gemini will be the 'ruler' of your 5th house, meaning you might take a Gemini-like approach to creativity, romance, children, play and pleasure. During Gemini Season this area of your life may have more of your attention than usual.
So what are these Gemini themes? Communication. Gemini is all about communication. At the everyday worldly level, Gemini is associated with the breath, speech, reading, writing, movement, words, teaching and learning, information and misinformation, gossip, sales, advertising and intelligence (in every sense of the word). Gemini is a sign of the mind and mental activity, often extremely rapid and incessant mental activity! With Gemini we have a picture of the mind in movement: skipping from one topic to the next, and the next, and the next, and so on. The term 'monkey-mind' (which refers to our everyday mental chatter) might have been created especially for Gemini. This habit of skipping from one thing to another gives Gemini the undeserved reputation of being superficial. It has been likened a bee flitting from blossom to blossom gathering nectar, but to dismiss Gemini as superficial is to negate the spiritual significance of this important sign.
Bees do flit from one flower to another and in doing so they are pollinating the plants, ensuring their successful fruition, which continues the life-cycle of the plant, and ensuring an abundant food supply for us. Gemini also rules connective tissue and is a sign of connection. Esoteric Astrology tells us that Gemini is the only sign that connects the remaining eleven signs and in one way or another, has a connection with every other sign of the zodiac. To understand Gemini we need to look at the underlying energy involved. If we look at bees from an everyday, separatist, view, we see a lot of separate things: insects flying to and from a lot of flowers. If we look energetically we see a continuous flow of energy that is maintaining an ecosystem. This is when communication, becomes communion. Oneness.
In Esoteric Astrology the sign of Gemini is described as "The Interplay of Light". It is said that the soul begins as a 'point of light in the mind of God' in Aries, in Taurus that point of light becomes a beam of light, and in Gemini that beam of light becomes multiple rays of light. At soul level Gemini is ruled by Venus and the higher octave of Gemini is to marry the head and the heart. This is why Gemini can either be seen as a sign of separation or connection - depending upon the level of our consciousness. If we are driven by the monkey-mind, with it's constant judging and labeling, our world will be filled with separation and we will feel isolated and separate from nature. When we go deeper in our meditation and our monkey-mind becomes quieter, we begin to perceive the subtler energy that connects everything. This process of working with our mind to resolve duality and separation back into oneness, is very much the higher path of Gemini.
Bees see a field of rainbows and light and it is thought that they may navigate by 'riding waves of light'. The 'hive' might look busy to us, but to them it's all one continuous interplay of light!
Overall, in the coming weeks we have a wonderful opportunity to see how we are each perceiving our own world: are we looking through the lens of separation or are we ready to experience oneness? Look to the planets and houses in your own chart to see where Gemini is calling you up this month! Is there a 'buzz'? A 'hive' of activity? Or a continuous interplay of light? |
