Last week we saw the Sun enter Aquarius marking the beginning of this year's Aquarius season. The sign of Aquarius is associated with science, technology, innovations, gadgets, individuality, uniqueness, the new age, humanitarian ideals and group consciousness. Remember this time of year we are all bathed in the energy of Aquarius so 'aquarian-type' issues and concerns will be arising for all of us during this time of year. So what are these 'lessons of Aquarius' that this time of year teaches us? Essentially it is about balancing the needs of the group vs the individual.
Aquarius is the sign of group consciousness - at it's lowest negative expression this manifests in collective systems such as the extreme communist regimes of cold-war Russia where the needs and rights of the individual are subjugated to the needs of the 'group' (in this case The State). This illustrates the distinction between an intellectual 'ideal' and the reality of individual experience. We can see that such systems as communist Russia and Hitler's fascist Germany were based on
mental concepts of an idealized society that were then
imposed on individuals. Aquarius is the fixed air sign and so it is the energy that structures mental concepts.
At it's highest spiritual expression Aquarius is the sign of the collective consciousness of humanity and the flowering of human consciousness. We realize our oneness and connectedness through the experience that comes only from having walked our individual spiritual path of Self-realization.
This is the balanced Aquarius-Leo polarity. Once we have attained
Self-realization through the path of Leo then, through our own personal experience of increasingly subtle levels of consciousness, we recognize the true collective consciousness of humanity that is a spiritual reality, not an intellectual ideal.
"When we have a relationship to a particular thing or experience with it - belief/faith ceases to be a factor. The truth is this, I have had the experience of being gripped by something that is stronger than myself, something that people call God. So, I will never say that I believe that God exists. I must say I know God exists!" - Carl Jung
This time of year, if we look around, we will see that we are confronted with the distinction between our beliefs and ideals, and the true living reality of our individual experience. Leo rules the heart and, once we balance the Aquarius-Leo polarity, we are centered in our hearts yet connected to the collective consciousness of humanity at one and the same time. Then we are ready for the sacred heart opening that happens in Pisces!
See you next time, and in the meantime...
happy exploring!
Best Wishes,
Ruth
