Your horoscope is a living thing - it IS life living as YOU. What you see in your birth chart is only a two-dimensional representation- a 'diagram' if you like, of your living energy field - your personal 'mandala'.So now with a little knowledge, you can begin to use your horoscope as a working tool for your own journey of self-exploration.
Over the past few weeks we looked at what energy dynamics are symbolized by the positions of the Sun and the Moon in your chart.Remember what is wanting to happen overall, throughout your whole life, is the highest expression of your Soul Sign - symbolized by the Rising Sign (Ascendant). Read about the Soul Purpose of each sign here. At this point it might be helpful to clarify precisely what we mean by horoscope, especially since most people's first experience of the word is through magazines, newspapers or websites proclaiming 'your daily horoscope' - and then what you see is a sentence or two giving a very generalized theme for everyone whose Sun falls in a particular sign.
The origin of the word horoscope comes from the ancient Greek: horoskopos. Hora means time, and skopos means 'observer'. So now a different meaning is revealed to us. The original Greek word meant 'observer of time', and when modern astrologers refer to a 'horoscope' they are usually speaking of a chart drawn up to study a particular point in time. In your case this would be your natal, or birth, chart. But what are we observing? Energy!
Your natal chart is a snapshot of the prevailing energies at the time of your birth: both the seeds of potential that you already carried in your energy field, and the circumstances that surrounded you at the time of your birth. The chart itself is only a symbol of a real, living, energy field that we call YOU! In the original sense of the word, your personal horoscope (birth chart) is a tool that allows you to observe yourself over time. You can see which seeds you want to cultivate, and which weeds you want to discard! I know many people have had their chart drawn up but they leave it gathering dust in a cupboard because they can't see the relevance for their everyday lives.
Yet that information could help you so much if you knew what to look for. It can tell you who you become in relationships. Why you find some people challenging and others easy. Why you feel stressed in some situations and not others. What drains your vital energy. What motivates you… or not. I could go on and on, but...
This is an invitation for you to take out your own chart! Dust it off, and breathe life back into your relationship with your horoscope so it becomes a living tool that supports you. Begin by practicing mindfulness in your daily life: observing how your own energy plays out on a day to day basis. Watch your emotional energy, your mental energy, speech and thoughts, your physical energy and actions.
Then refer to your chart and look at your Rising Sign. There you will see what your Soul is wanting to express. Then look at your Sun and Moon signs: what condition are they in, in your chart? Are you expressing the highest love-based octaves of these signs, or do you react from the fear-based level?
A familiarity with your horoscope gives you a living tool to support your journey of self-exploration, and I hope the information over the last few weeks (about your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign) has given you enough to get started!
