In the New’s:
Every year around this time Key West Florida host the illustrious Fantasy Fest, full of high spirited colorful people. For a list of events and some fun laughs take a look. I might just go down to watch the parade.

On November 8, FBO is moving to beta.SAM.gov. This is interesting because the date is exactly 14 days from today yet they still call it beta! Smh! What is even more interesting than that is the fact that Amazon is involved. Specifically Amazon Web Services to be exact. Take a look at the url and see if you notice something funny.

Interesting Bid Awards:
Over this past 7 days on FBO alone the government awarded 1,295 bids. During the same period, there were 120 J&A (Justification & Approvals) to award projects to a single bidder.

One interesting J&A to note is Colins Aerospace, Program/Equipment: Development, Engineering and Technical Support Contract Amount $40M. The Small Business Liaison Officer for Collins Aerospace, Amber Hanlon will be a guest on the Govcon Giants podcast coming up in a few weeks. Stay tune for that interview.

Tip from Govcon Giants Member only Q&A call last night:
Last night we finished a live members only Q&A call with guest speaker Orlando Espinosa, episode #013. He gave a few excellent tips that I wanted to share.

Being an entrepreneurs is lonely, you need to build relationships relationships relationships.

Orlando no longer puts together bids, his relationships do most of the heavy lifting and he just shows up and does his part. This is a technique that also allows the TEAM to meet stringent government requirements.

None of us can do it alone, so why are we trying? Find people that are eager to grow together and cultivate those relationships.

Join an organization where you can find like minded people, reach out to them and ask about their business don’t try and sell. Offer to help, share something that you know, that you’ve learned. Give first before expecting anything in return.

Initially it will launch with 5 participants and upon successful rollout we are looking to increase participation to 50 participants and beyond. Click link to register, replay will be available for those who cannot attend.

Saturday, October 26 will be our first ever Govcon Giants Mastermind Group event hosted in Columbia, Maryland by Renona Brown of HuRMAR Solutions. With the success of this group we anticipate rolling out more in major cities around the U.S.

We can use your help:
Many people have offered to help and until now I could not figure out what to ask for. We are looking for writers who want to help write blog articles about topics related to Government Contracting. If you or someone you know posses that ability please reach out to us. We are aiming to become the Amazon of Government Contracting and so we are wanting to add continuous consistent high quality content to our site. Message me or Maria for more info.

Curiosity kills the cat:
What costume are you wearing this week?
