New students pitches a University …
One of our very own students just pitched a University out on the West Coast to represent them as a consultant in the Government market space.

Just three weeks after signing up with Govcon Giants she informs me that she has a meeting with the head of a University IT department and needs to put together a presentation for the meeting. I asked her the topic and she said they were looking for a consultant to help them win contracts and grants using their technology.

We jump into action and I do two things:
  1. I send her over the latest information that I had on DOD events for new products. [tweet me if you want a copy]
  2. I introduce her to another student, P.R. who formally worked for the government and helped organize tech events.
P.R. was able to provide her with the most current insight how to pitch your new technology to the DOD and she was able to finalize here presentation.

Latest update. The president asked her for her consultant agreement. (she used the one from the course) and now she has to go back to present to a board of 8 for final acceptance next week. Stay tuned for an update on her situation.

Society of Military Engineers (SAME) Conference (www.same.org)
Last month I attended the SAME conference here in Miami. Learned that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects from the previous three (3) Hurricanes are so backed up that they have to use 4 district offices just to handle the backlog of projects. Spending is up 300% for 2019 and looks to continue over the next few years. If you are in construction or A/E then you should be working with one of the Corps district offices.

Here are the district office map with contact information. USACE Districts

Pro Tip: One of the fastest ways to start working with USACE is to become a member of SAME office associated with the Corps branch in your area. The USACE always attend events both professional and social where you can meet decision makers.
