Mark Masters
Chloeta
President & CEO
Episode 39
"I think the idea or the perception that being a federal contractor is going to be a get rich quick scheme is pervasive and it’s not accurate. You know, it takes a lot of hard work. It takes a lot of time. I mean there’s a lot of people in this industry who’ve been given it their full effort for a number of years and, and you know, it’s this idea that you’re going to get a magically get a contract or two and it’s going to be a get rich quick scheme , it’s absurd to be honest."

Mark is a wild land firefighter. Mark knew since he was in first grade that that is all he wanted to be. But one thing that he never imagined was to be an entrepreneur.

Mark Masters of the Cherokee Nation founded his company Chloeta in 2009. Just 10 years later Chloeta has grown into an international service provider in the areas of emergency management, environmental consulting, security, aviation and wild land fire management. Chloeta has been named twice to the Inc. 5000 by Inc. Magazine for the fastest growing privately held businesses in the U.S. and was also named to the Entrepreneur 360  list by Entrepreneur Magazine for the top 360 businesses to watch in 2018.

In this interview you’ll learn about Mark’s journey from firefighter to business owner. We discuss his companies encounter with Small Business Assistance Center. How he credits his Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma tribe for helping him to be in business. How he built his past performance to land his first contracts and the critical decision he made to pivot from a reactive business model to a sustainable one landing him multiple 7- figure contracts.

Episode 038 : Jon Tellier, President of JetCo Solutions –
An Extension of the Sales and Marketing Team for Businesses

Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Jon Tellier is the President at JetCo Solutions. In this position, he recruits and leads a growing team of employees who help businesses sell to all levels of government. Jon also leads all capture efforts for JetCo Solutions.

In this interview we discuss GSAfuzzy government metrics for measuring small business success, capture management, and strict policies that he implements with clients. What I love the most about this interview was Jon’s candidness about his hardships and struggles both he and his wife face while building this company they love together, JetCo Solutions. Those times create lean practices and his business, which he continues today. Despite having won some $4 billion in contracts for the companies he represents.
