This week's episode was recorded Live at the 2019 HUBZone National Conference in Chantilly, Virginia this past September.
I had the honor to be able to sit down and interview our guest after receiving the Small Business Champion of the Year Award.
Angela Terry is the SBA Subcontracting Program Manager. Many of you have probably heard of the SBA SubNet platform it is the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Subcontracting Network System for all federal government subcontracting opportunities. If you are not aware Prime contractors who’s contract dollar exceed a certain threshold are required to create subcontracting plans which include how they will utilize small businesses on their projects. Companies like Microsoft, Northrup Grunman and Amazon Web Services are examples of firms who are required to adhere to these rules.
SubNet’s purpose is to be the centralized system that Small Businesses utilize to identify federal government subcontracting opportunities bridging the gap between businesses seeking Small Business subcontractors and Small Business seeking subcontracting opportunities.
In this episode with Angela we discuss Electronic Subcontract Reporting. The SBA Subnet and new changes to the program and website that will allow for more compliance amongst prime contractors. Which ultimately should create more opportunities out there for small businesses.
