| I recall a few years back Fiverr was under fire for having gigs where you could buy fake testimonials.
Sadly, there was no shortage of buyers.
Why wouldn’t there be?
On the surface… fake testimonials are probably the easiest way to instant credibility that money can buy.
Set aside the ethical aspects of it for a bit, even though you shouldn't...
and the problem is… fake testimonials also turn you into lawsuit bait!
And I hear the FTC is extra hungry for scammy internet marketer bucks these days.
Unfortunately, when you’re new on the scene, perhaps with a fresh offer with no testimonials, or you’re absolutely green with zero presence on the market, you may feel the need to give yourself a splash of much-needed credibility… so you can spark that much-needed belief from your customers.
I have your back.
Believe it or not, there IS a way to get instant credibility even if you’re new in your market. Best part, you don’t even have to lie about it.
For example:
1 - Tap into the credibility of the method and story behind the product.
When you’re new on the market with zero testimonials…no track record…no proof…
You can lean into the wealth of proof behind your product’s method or story.
For example:
Is the core idea behind your product based on a large study, with lots of experts and a riveting story behind its discovery?
That alone packs loads of credibility in the offer.
Share the data. Tell the customer about the huge number of people behind the method. Tell the story and show the customer how much work went into your offer!
And it gets even better…
You could even:
2 - Leverage the credibility of the mentor behind the product.
The mentor’s credibility can be “borrowed” to add weight to the offer. This is basically name dropping, but with more finesse.
Especially if you can legally use your mentor’s results to help your case.
Share your mentor’s wins, and share small bits of their story.
And show the customer where the product came from.
This is credibility by association!
Here’s the thing…
If the story, and the myth behind your product, is good enough… it alone is enough to give you that first spark of credibility needed to start making sales!
You don’t need to resort to fake testimonials to get the ball rolling.
You just need to make the customer believe, and trust you and your offer.
