Subject: If you want to pick up a skill you have to find a mentor

I’m sure you’ve seen it too.

Someone who’s up t
o their eyeballs in debt will lecture you on how to manage your finances.

Someone who hasn’t been on a proper date for years (or has been divorced seven times) will give you relationship advice.

Or someone who’s working a steady 9-5 will give you endless sermons about how to run a business.

Ironic isn’t it?

Now, in the old days…

Before the internet was all the rage and you could find anything you wanted just by googling it…

if you wanted to pick up a skill, you had to find a mentor of sorts.

Someone who would take you under their wing and guide you on your journey.

Usually, this was someone experienced at what they did, with a lifetime of results to prove it.

The problem is, you were just as likely to come across the odd charlatan here and there. They were the types who had no place teaching what they did.

They would say whatever they had to say…

And teach whatever they had to teach to make a quick buck.

Whether or not it was true.

Furthermore, most of the time they never even used what they teach in real life. Most of them could be called “textbook experts” at best.

The internet makes it so easy to fool people…because anyone can claim to be an expert!

Anyone can just pop up out of nowhere with zero experience... and buy as many testimonials and Photoshopped income statements as they need on Fiverr to pull a fast one on you.

How do you cut through the fog?

You watch what they do. Not what they say.

For example…

Do they actually use what they teach to get the results they’re promising you?

Do they even have the results they’re promising in the first place?

Or… have they had said results in the past?

These may seem like incredibly simple questions, yet...

these questions arm you to cut through the fog and see what’s behind the scenes of                        anyone offering advice or willing to coach you.

If the person you want to learn from does not use what they preach to get the result you want…

you’re better off avoiding them like the plague.

They should at least have a track record to show they have used what they teach to get the desired results.

To Your Success,
Paul Hanson
