Subject: How You Show Up Matters

I'm sure you've heard it said before - you can't change a first impression!

You see, I'm a firm believer in how you show up matters.  If you're in biz of any sort, you really need to "wow" the customer in order to stand out.  I heard a story today that is a prime example.

A traveler had been delayed on his route back home and knew he wouldn't be able to drive the remaining trip since it was already past midnite.  He came upon a hotel and the clerk/manager there greeted him but the traveler quickly found out that all the rooms were occuppied - no vacancy!

The clerk/manager quickly offered the traveler his room, stating that it was not a typcial room but it did have a place where he could get a good nights rest rather than sending him out in the middle of the night.  Although the traveler refused, the manager was insistent and so the traveler had a good nights sleep and upon rising told the manager of his appreciation and that the manager should be running a larger hotel.  The manager thanked him for the compliment and the traveler departed.

It was nearly 2 years later, that the manager of the hotel, got an invitation along with airline tickets to meet his previous traveler in New York.  Upon arriving, the manager was greeted at the corner of 5th Avenue and 33rd St by the traveler that had visited his hotel years earlier.  At that moment, William Waldorf Astor greeted the manager and said, "I want you to manage my hotel"!  You see, how you show up and treat people makes a difference because the manager at that small hotel was so dutiful that Mr. Astor was convinced this was the person he wanted to run his hotel.

The same applies for all of us - someone is always watching what we do - how we show up makes a difference.  it might not be readily apparent, but it does matter.

I recently shared a quck video on Messenger that helps anyone - especially in business show up with that "wow" factor.  You can find it here.  By the way, I don't promote anything that I don't or haven't used myself, but with everything, the final judgment is up to you...
