Today I was reminded of a quote by Jim Rohn who said, "You have a choice of 2 pains in your life - the pain of discipline or the pain of regret".
I was reminded of this after hearing a story of a woman who struggled with weight loss for many years and then decided to find the discipline to take control of her life and then eventually lost over 100 pounds and transformed her life.
Personally, I was driven literally by pain to find a cure for a chronic condition that I acquired called chronic urticara(hives). After trying everything I thought possible including many specialists in the medical field and eastern medicine as well, I became so distraught one day that I had to do something, so I decided to go for a run and to my surprise, it alleviated the pain and itch of the hives!
Long story short - that literal pain drove me to a habit that I carry on to this day - that is of going for a run nearly every single day! Not only did it help to alleviate and eventually cure my urticaria, but it gave me a healthy lifestyle that I appreciate to this day.
I believe most of us never experience the pleasure on the other side of discipline until we make that decision to find out. Our own ignorance and lack of awareness is the most costly thing to our health and our lives in general.
I gained a whole new awareness in business when I read The Iceberg Effect by Dean Holland which so impressed me that I decided to partner with Dean.
