Girls On Tour has been to Chile a few times but we've not yet explored it in great detail. I am excited to be doing so on this exceptional itinerary. Chile is as long as Australia is wide. We’ll arrive in Santiago and spend two nights at the bespoke Luciano K hotel in a beautiful area of the capital while we settle in and find our feet. On our return from Atacama we'll explore Santiago further as well as a full day excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage, port city of Valparaiso and the wine region.

After a day of seeing Santiago’s sights, the adventure begins. We’re flying north to the Atacama desert for 5 days all-inclusive at the Cumbres San Pedro de Atacama. Known for its remarkable moonscapes, plateau lagoons, geysers/hot springs and pre-Columbian cultures. We also hope to see Vicuña (a cousin of the llama) and gorgeous pink flamingos
Did you know that the Atacama is also one of the best stargazing locations in the world? |
From the most northern reaches of Chile to the most southern, Patagonia, if you’ve never been to this region, it’s sure to touch your soul. Wide-open landscapes, stunning mountain peaks, country air, amazing hospitality and of course, the local cowboys 'gaucho’.
In Patagonia, we’ll be spending a few days in El Calafate sharing gorgeous food, while sipping on local wines. We’ll visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, in anticipation of the ice that lies ahead of us in Antarctica.
We have the next 3 nights at Hosteria Los Torres, a stunning converted working ranch inside the Torres del Paine National Park. I cannot wait for this. This lodge with its proximity inside the national park will allow us to maximise our days and see the best of South America’s premier national park.
As our time at Las Torres comes to an end, we’ll spend a few days in the bohemian town of Puerto Natales before we fly to Antarctica to join the MV Greg Mortimer in Punta Areas, bound for Antarctica.
