Well, that's a wrap for July!

Hi ,

I hope you're well as can be in this crazy 2020 world. I don't think I've written to you before - such is the nature of time lately. Stretched and bent into all configurations.

Thanks for signing up to my newsletter some time back. Truth is, I've just gotten around to putting the first one together. Super together I know....

BUT thank you and I'll do my best.

UPDATE on The Watchers

This is the SF book I'm working on right now. To be honest, it's been a real slog trying to write a dystopian SF story in the midst of our current real world dystopia, but I'm plodding along and hope to have it out in the world in some form in 2021.

Here's an exclusive excerpt from The Watchers for for you. Would love to hear what you think

Seth looked around the shell of the collider. Everywhere there were wires and tubes and pipes stretching up into infinity. The atmosphere inside the tube created its own micro climate and right now the visibility was less than 100 nanos. In the distance the hum of the tri-cars were getting louder. There wasn't much time left. The Owners had designed the labyrinth with the best of intentions, building in layers of self replicating defence that ensured the complex would continue to evolve long after the once human hosts had given way to their innate barbarism.

Seth turned his gaze inward twitching his nano tech to tweak his reality.  He was super Seth, serotonin rich and ecstatic. No-where and everywhere. He could now see the approaching shadows of the speeding tri-cars. Around him, the walls exploded in colours and textures not yet imagined but familiar. The slip was breathtaking. Imagine the very ground beneath you suddenly translucent and uncertain. The atomic bonds that separated you so assuredly from this dimension to the next yield suddenly to the hidden forces of the universe. No longer a solid floor beneath you. The walls recede and at once you are plummeting head first into a sickening void. Beyond, the roar of the tri-cars faded to an echo.

Book Recommendation

I'm finding it hard to concentrate on reading, but I have been enjoying this. Some classic Sci Fi by the very strange Robert A. Heinlein. The word classic is sometimes used too much, but this is the real thing. Check it out.

What's Next?

Well, I'm sure, like me, your'e hunkered down, waiting for a cure for this damn COVID-19. Until then, we have to keep safe, keep distant, wear a mask if necessary and wash your hands!

I'm working on my podcast EBR - The Writers' Show - which you can listen to right here. If you could listen and leave a review that would be great!

Your support means a lot to me. Please consider buying my book of short stories Beautiful Lies or helping out on my Patreon page.

That's it for July. Talk in August sometime, (now I've finally got this newsletter thing together!)

Take care!

Geoff
