New Survey: Sharing the Tax Bill Benefits With Employees
Earlier this month, consulting firm Pearl Meyer released results from a quick poll of 301 board and management level executives, primarily from large publicly held companies. The survey was intended to reveal company plans for sharing savings resulting from the 2018 tax reform bill.
Poll results indicated that 20% of respondents had already provided benefit enhancements to employees, and 35% are considering additional or new benefits. While some employees directly linked additional employee rewards with the benefits of tax reform, others indicated that they were recognizing employee contributions to success.

| | | What Participants in the 2017 HR Leadership Academy are Saying
Participating in the HR Leadership Academy program was a great experience for me! I was able to interact and form great relationships with HR professionals from many different industries and backgrounds.
This is well-rounded program that provides significant opportunity to grow your network, your knowledge about the laws, and your knowledge about how other companies around the state are succeeding. I highly recommend this program to both new and experienced HR professionals.

Registration for the 2018 Class of the HR Leadership Academy is open now. Participants from non-profits or smaller businesses are encouraged to apply for the David Whitaker Scholarship, which pays complete tuition for one participant in the class. |
| | | Trump Administration Budget Proposes EEOC Increase
|
While the President’s 2019 budget proposal decreases funds for most non-security related agencies of the government, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission would see a slight increase in allocations. The administration’s 2019 proposed budget for the EEOC is $363,807,086, an increase of $1.783 million over the FY 2018 continuing resolution spending level.
The prominence of sexual harassment issues in recent months is highlighted in the Budget Justification document issued by the Commission. According to a Wolters-Kluwer article, departures at the Commission in FY 2017 and a large number of retirement-eligible employees will require the EEOC to move to fill “mission critical” positions in the coming year. Increased hiring plans are included in the FY 2019 proposed budget.
EEOC priorities for FY 2019 are focused on the workplace of the future. EEOC will seek to increase equality of employment opportunity through enhanced outreach and education, voluntary compliance efforts, high quality investigations, early and voluntary resolutions, and strategic litigation to enforce the laws under its jurisdiction.
