Subject: Winter Vegetables

Greetings Fellow Gardener!

As we verge into 2021 and another growing season, it’s a good time to assess how things went in 2020. You’ve likely done or will do the same preparing and planning for next season.

Our Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds catalogue has arrived with those amazing displays of orange okra on the cover. Being involved in family enterprises ourselves, we feel a kinship with the Gettle family who’ve been cranking out heirloom seed catalogues since 1998.

Are you a fan of Baker Creek?  Do you have other favorite seed vendors? When seeds at BC are out of stock, we’ve gone to Johnny's Seeds, Territorial Seed Company, Eden Brothers (local to NC), and when we must, over to Burpee’s. The latter does offer a line of organic seeds.

By the by, it’s not too early to get started ordering seeds for the 2021 season. While most seed companies are back in stock and mostly doing business as usual, there are some experiencing shortages, and others stating that while inventory is good, the demand that will ensue in 2021 is uncertain.

Also, it’s not too early for some of us to get going with our early season crops like the ones we’ve mentioned in our recent article about what vegetables to grow in the winter

2020 has been a year we’re probably all glad to have behind us. Challenges still remain for 2021, but we count our blessings daily. Our backyard Eden is definitely one of the blessings that has carried us through 2020 and into 2021.

More To Do With Cranberries

If you’re still in the mood for cranberry things, we thoroughly enjoyed this refreshing cranberry spritzer and also this pear, rosemary cranberry sauce with fresh garden rosemary. Both make good New Year’s treats as well.

May this message find you well and safe. Please, accept our brightest and best wishes to you and your loved ones for a bountiful 2021.

Stay well, optimistic and strong.

For when the going gets tough… the tough get GROWING!
