Welcome Gardeners to 2019!
So, 2018 is now history. Like many folks, we’re reviewing the past year and our garden is no exception. Thanks to our nifty Garden Planner software, we have tracked the performance of about every plant selection. And you know, there are some definite winners and losers along with a considerable number of “midlings” that neither failed nor succeeded much.
Now, if we’re totally into learning, we gotta admit some of the failures and successes were on us, some had to do with the plants themselves, and some were related to the environment.
Being a visual learner, I drew up a Venn diagram that helps clarify many of the variables that affect how a garden grows. It’s by no means a complete picture or a complete listing of considerations, yet it helps us glean many of the variables that influence how our garden turns out.
We expect to see the strong winners in that “sweet spot” where all the circles crossover. Chances are, many of the mediocre performers are in the double layer zones where two out of three circles overlap.
So there goes 2018. The new seed catalogues have begun lighting up our expectations (Be still my green heart!), and we’re about to start planning for 2019.
Speaking of which, check out our article about choosing what vegetables to grow and this article on Best LED Grow Lights.
