In the Day 45 email we said that it’s actually common for intelligent creatives to be procrastinators. The intelligentsia live so much in the fantastical realm of mind where things just work and ideas are fluid and fast. We want our visions of the future here now.
It’s a similar experience for creators polarized in the creative center—the throat chakra—and the heart. There lives beauty, imagination, love and infinite possibility.
The world in your head can move quickly and is an amazing realm easily manipulated at the speed of thought. The struggle to bring the ideal to life is real because the moment ideas enter the physical realm they meet friction. First the pain of birth and exposure to the critics including our own. Then resistance of gravity, of physicality… of matter and stumbling as we learn how to maneuver in the dense and noisy material world.
We are infants in the realm of creating. Toddlers at manifesting. But we are growing into it. Our destiny waits there. Through daily creating we master manifestation.
Pick up speed. Become prolific. Make mistakes. Iterate. Recreate. Grow.
If we want a strong body, thinking of it will never make it so. It’s when we grab the weight and wield it that the muscles grow stronger. We seize the resistance (the weight… the heavy thing weighing us down), we take it on and get it done.
It’s in the doing that we get stronger.
Become vigorous in your endeavor.
If you find yourself procrastinating anything, often the time spent thinking about it, fretting about it, talking about it and then excusing it is more exhausting and takes more time than just doing the work.
Our all time favorite book on this all-important concept is
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.
Chances are you all already own this…? If not, TWoA is essential for every creator.
