“The flower serves all around her, by simply doing what she's here to do. Grow.”

GREETINGS FRIEND!
We gardeners are all in our element now. SPRING!!!
Planting, gardening, harvesting and marveling and the daily miracles of fruits and vegetables growing.
And… we may also be battling some garden pests. Just yesterday Coleman got out the landscape mesh to line a bed attacked by moles and voles. The battle is on!
FAVA BEANS - A QUICK NOTE
We're growing Fava Beans this year for the first time. They're an early spring bean that we'll be harvesting soon. This is just a quick note as we haven't had time to do an article on these yet. Please let us know if you're growing them and how it's going for you.
GARDEN THERAPY
Spring is for renewal and growth. In the garden — “far from the madding crowd”, life is wholesome and good, fresh and new. Here in the garden, life makes sense.
Life is good in the garden.
Studies now show what gardeners already know: gardening therapy reduces stress and anxiety while boosting immunity, health and happiness.
You may remember the chart in last week’s email, on Reasons Why People Garden…? Posting that at the end of this email in case you didn’t see it or would like to scan it again.
We found it poignant that the majority of people who garden — 49% — did so for mental and emotional wellbeing, even over growing for food at 30%.
Gardening therapy is a thing, and every gardener knows the joy and solace of an early morning stroll through the garden, greeting plants and pollinators and listening to the songbirds. Priceless and precious peace.
