Subject: SNIPPET: Rain Barrels - Wood or Plastic?

“Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth;
without rain, there would be no life.”
~John Updike, American novelist, poet, short-story writer, 1932-2009

Marvelous Monday, Garden Maverick!

A couple weeks ago Coleman procured some wooden wine barrels from a local vineyard so that we could start our own adult grape juice distillery. Just kidding about the grape juice part! ;-)

We use the wooden barrels both as a lovely aesthetic feature at our rental cabin and to collect rainwater for the gardens up there. Coleman and Nikolai have set up two wooden rain barrels and four plastic rain barrels at that property.

Both wood and plastic barrels have been super effective for the past 7 years!

If you’d like to learn more about the pros and cons, including images,

Are you harvesting rainwater? If so, we’d love to know your methods! You can always reach us via a reply to this email or on our Facebook Page!

Grow great gardens!
