Greetings, Gardener!
It’s been such a wet spring here in North Carolina that we have all kinds of fungi sprouting along with all our garden goodies.
Oyster Mushrooms Hobbyist: Did you see Gardens All community member, Kathie Chamber's contribution on growing oyster mushrooms for the hobbyist? If not, you may enjoy it. She’s created a cool mushroom growing stack from logs in the woods. You can use some of your
extra firewood to grow mushrooms in summer. Growing Mushrooms for Profit: The mushroom topic keeps sprouting! If you’re intrigued by the idea of earning supplemental income from your yard garden—or basement!—a member of the Planting for Retirement group shared her process for growing oyster mushrooms for profit. Sarah Brackney started in her basement, growing for family, and now she’s growing mushrooms to sell! You can read more about that
on the Planting for Retirement website. Next… you might want to grill those mushrooms along with your other grill favorites. Delicious on sandwiches, in stir frys, in omelets, and grilled on veggie kabobs. YUMMY!
Please let us know what you’re up to. If you have any questions, tips or photos to add,
just send a reply. We read them all and will get back as soon as we can.
Let’s keep on growing!
