Hey folks!
Sorry we’ve been MIA! I was in Atlanta for my volunteer investment coaching stint then we got covered up in the first—early for NC—winter snow, then Christmas stuff! And… I’ve also been deep in research on a possible crop, which we’ll share more about.
We hope this finds you well, and your garden put to bed for winter, (or growing wonderful winter crops, and other goodies if you're in a warmer climate)!
WHAT’S UP IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS THIS WEEK:
- Research on the latest most promising new crop
- In our garden: collards, arugula, kale, bok choy
- Inside: longevity spinach, Meyer’s lemons and some houseplants
- The first winter snow - was a great one! Our Native Russian born son—Nikolai—was ecstatic. He thrives on the cold and snow!
- Two bird rescues this week… one successful, one loss
- The girls—LeAura and Devani—have been working on the creation of two new journals for our iCreateDaily company. The one just back from the printer is the Gratitude Journal. Coming next is an art journal, and we already have the Goals journals.
As you may know, we have a Facebook group called Planting for Retirement (PfR). (You’re invited to join us there, if you’re not already a member). We started that group because of the joy of gardening, and because of our future goal of creating some kind of farming business.
So PfR is for folks interested in securing their own retirement through growing for selling and/or just supplementing the grocery bill. And no… you don’t already have to be retired because it’s also about planning for the future. There are folks in PfR from all areas of planning and preparedness interests, and all ages.
RESEARCH:
As a part of our own future farming plans, we’re considering all kinds of options and learning from folks who are doing that, whenever we have the opportunity.
Lately, with the 2018 Farm Bill and so much other news about all the products made from hemp plus the burgeoning medical cannabis industry, we decided to look a little deeper.
Our first inclination was to immediately discount anything to do with cannabis. I mean… our youthful 60’s/70’s era is long past. ;-) But then decided we should at least be better informed before taking a stance.
Many people, us included, tend to lump THC cannabis (the type of weed used for getting high), with the hemp and its medicinal extracts like CBD.
So we dove into the history, facts and medicinal value. Our research has resulted in vast discoveries, and we’re just getting started. It’s like the more we learn, the more there is to learn.
Our thing is that we love to share what we’re learning and doing in case it’s of interest or benefit to others. Toward that, should you be interested in this topic, you can see more on that in today’s article.
If you have thoughts pro or con, and/or experience of any kind with this, we’d love to hear from you. We’re also glad to share your knowledge in the article itself, if you have hands on experience in this field, (the medicinal cannabis and/or hemp products, not the recreational THC. :-))..
If you’re interested in organic medicinal CBD oil, this is a long-time reputable company:We'd love to hear what you’re up to and what you're interested in, researching, or looking into for next years growing season! Or any topics you'd like us to research and write about!
Grow great gardens… and LOVELY Christmas Blessings
