Greetings fellow gardener!
This past week, we’ve heard from many of you that are up north and west of our locale about all the cold and snow and generally harsh conditions you've experienced up there. One of you said that two feet of snow had covered your daffodils! :-o
Our week’s of weather has been rather erratic. It reminds me of Forrest Gump’s famous quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."

We did have the opportunity to procure organic straw bales, set them out, and cover the tops with organic fertilizer. We finished just-in-time for a couple of days starting with rain and ending with snow. That should get us going with the conditioning of the straw bales and save a lot of water.
Meanwhile, we're still enjoying collard greens, arugula, and a little bit of spinach leftover from the 2017 fall planting. We’re still mostly growing indoors, but yesterday was warm enough to be outside potting up our Black Beauty tomato seedlings. Mouth waters just thinking about them! There is a certain Joy in being able to pot up the seasons first batch of seedlings. It also tends to bring on the first flushes of spring fever.

| | The sky is crystal clear today temps are climbing up to near 60, And we’re due for snow tomorrow and the day after. The weather these days is truly like that box of chocolates. The best part? Our straw bales are going to get another dousing of “free” H2O.
We always appreciate hearing from you gals and guys as to how everything is going with your gardening. Do drop us a line.
