Subject: Edible Hedges & Loss of Power

GOOD MORNING!

We’re without power (since around 9:45 PM Saturday) and internet (since mid morning Saturday), in the Piedmont of NC after freezing rain iced trees and lines.

Thanks to a phone hotspot and a few phone chargers, we have enough juice to say Happy Valentine’s Day Sunday to you while we get our generator going.

Whoops! The pull cord on the generator broke, LOL, and there’s no access to the insides for layman mechanics. Oh well. Another one for the "To Do List".

Wherever you are, hoping you’re safe and cozy with enough back up supplies and charges to keep you going. We’re grateful for a gas stove, so we can still make coffee and cook, and for a wood fireplace to huddle around.

WATER STORAGE & PORTABLE PROPANE HEATERS

When you're on well water as we are, when the power is out, so is the water supply. Toward that, we’re grateful to have these water storage containers all full and at the ready. We're also grateful to have rescued our greenhouse plants and seedlings from freezing thanks to portable propane heaters.

EDIBLE HEDGES - AKA LIVING FENCES

Yesterday we were working on updating our article on edible hedges. There’s so much more to add to it, but this is a good start if it’s something  you’re considering.

ARE YOU GROWING ANY? If you’re growing any edible hedges or living fences, we’d love to hear about it (and see photos if you care to share). You can just reply to this, we’ll read and respond soon.

More next week. We'd love to hear what you're up to if you care to drop us a line.

We wish you well! Whenever times are tough, it always helps to focus on gratitude, for there is always something for which to be grateful!

From the heart,

Coleman and LeAura Alderson
