HELLO FRIEND!
It's been a minute. Way too many.
Meanwhile, we're back... it's an early spring in NC and we're planning a new garden after having to rip out our old one. More on that below in the brief personal update for those who are interested in that sort of thing.
METAL RAISED BED:
Here's a new galvanized metal raised garden bed project. Have you use these yet, or built your own?
We're really liking this concept and look forward to when we can add more.
If you're using a metal raised bed, we'd love to hear about your experience, and see any photos you'd care to share via reply, or on the GardensAll Facebook post.
PERSONAL UPDATE:
As you may recall if you read any of our previous updates, the third of 2022 was wrapped up in the care of LeAura's mother in her last days, then the settling of her affairs. We miss her dearly, but she was so ready to go.
Meanwhile, our garden next to our home was actually on her property, and we also shared a well. It was a small slice of land on the other side of her driveway, far from her house (so not useful to her), but only 15' from our house, and the only sunnier patch in our wooded lot.
So she granted us permission to garden there and said we could quit-claim it to our parcel after her death. But alas, that wasn't written in her will, and we didn't know that we weren't inheriting it all, in accordance with her previous verbal proclamation.
The family member serving as the executor of her estate, did a great job, but wasn't amenable to any such claims. Sooo.... the longer story made short, we had to dismantle and tear out our garden of 7 years.
That was a painful thing to do... we had perennials, a cattle panel greenhouse and all sorts of other growing things and structures.
However, when one door closes, another opens, so all of this has simply given us the impetus to build a new and bigger garden on our mountain property, that's currently a vacation rental place, but where we will eventually live.
Sooo... gardening this year will be a 35 minute drive to get to rather than stepping out the door for a few strides, but we'll do what we can as we can.... and like the determined dandelion, we're going to keep on growing!
We'd love to hear your update on how you're doing and what's happening with your garden/gardening.
Take care and may spring be all around you (soon if not yet)!
Coleman and LeAura Alderson
