Warm regards,
The FRESH New London Team

Dear Friends and Community Members,

I’m excited and honored to be stepping into the role of co-director of administration and strategy for FRESH New London. Many of you know me as a long-time resident of New London, and for those of you I have not yet met, I look forward to talking with you and getting to know you as we build and grow the amazing work of FRESH New London. (Translation: If you see me around, don’t be shy—I promise not to talk your ear off. Well, not too much.)

I came to FRESH after having spent 28 years in higher education as a college administrator at both Connecticut College for 5 years and the University of Connecticut for 23 years. At UConn, I served as the director of Diversity & Inclusion for the School of Business for 15 years. In 2021, I retired from UConn, which gave me the opportunity to explore other passions including civic engagement, gardening, and grassroots organizing. (Yes, I traded board meetings for digging in the dirt—best decision ever!) I’m also a strong believer in economic justice and empowerment.

Currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, FRESH New London stands at the forefront of a movement aimed at addressing food justice, equity, and accessibility. We have a steadfast dedication to empowering youth, connecting community, and cultivating food to dismantle systemic oppression while nurturing food sovereignty.

I look forward to meeting many of you at our upcoming Plant Sale this Saturday, May 25th, from 10am-12pm!

With gratitude,

Seanice Austin
