FRESH New London
October Newsletter
Hello FRESH Friends,

It has been a busy time. We are trying to slow down and not just be busy. Bees are busy, but they make honey. When we are too busy, we rush and bluster and stumble. Do you ever experience that? We are trying to be focused, to prepare, reflect and restore. Autumn is a good time for all of that. We hope we can do it!

In this edition of the FRESH Newsletter, we showcase the voices of our young crew members, share our newest growing space, ask that you save the date for the Second Annual FRESH Member Meeting and invite you to plant garlic and harvest pizza (hmm, if you are asking, "how does that work?," you should just come and see for yourselves).
Table of Contents:
FRESH Crew Reflect on What They Have Learned
A Garden Grows on Ledyard Street
Garlic Planting, Pizza Party, Saturday, October 20th, 3pm
Annual Member Meeting, Sunday, November 11, 4pm
LEDYARD STREET GARDEN
Thanks to the generosity of the Robert G Youngs Foundation, FRESH New London is now charged with stewarding a new, small plot of land in New London. Saint Francis House is holding it on our behalf until the New London Community Land Trust is a recognized non-profit.

We are convening neighbors of this .076 acre plot off Vauxhall Street next week to plan and envision how fruitful even small green and growing spaces can be amid the bustle of our city. Friends erected a small greenhouse there already, and we've planted elderberry and other fruiting bushes.

Keep an eye out for more fruiting plants and trees, a garlic patch, and a memorial plaque in the coming months and we hope that by next summer this parcel is feeding the New London community.

If you live near the intersection of Ledyard and Vauxhall and want to get involved, please email info@freshnewlondon.org.
