Happy Earth Day!
This day honors the environment and reminds us all to do more to steward and safeguard Mother Earth.
It seems like a great day to share some of what FRESH is working on amid the COVID pandemic and promote our double your donation fundraising drive!
1) Mission CSA: FRESH is devoting more than half of its 2020 Community Support Agriculture shares to low-income New Londoners. Our lottery is open until the end of April. Flyer below!
2) Backyard Growing: We have collected dozens and dozens of responses to our survey and are now distributing seeds, tools, soil, seedlings and growing vessels (pots and boxes) to community members so that more people can grow their own food.
3) Community Education: We are pairing experienced growers and novices, offering online tutorials, developing webnairs and zooms to teach basic gardening techniques for our local climate.
4) Community Gardens: FRESH New London has more than 100 garden beds throughout the city and is working with public health officials, local government and all our gardeners and their families to ensure safe access to green and growing space. And more... and we are doing all of this without seeing each other or you!
