FRESH New London
Dear Friends,

It's officially summer! Beaches, ball games, barbeques, and SO MANY VEGGIES to harvest. I've been gardening for decades now, and I still get blown away by how incredibly quickly plants grow this time of year. My squashes are doubling in size every few days, and I've had to tie up the sugar snap peas at our Ledyard St. snackbeds twice so far!

All our early summer vegetables are ready for harvest; this week's CSA shares will have Peas, Lettuce, Kale, Collard Greens, Basil, Parsley, Cilantro, Zucchini, Currents, Broccoli, Radishes, Scallions, Cabbage, Herbs, and Garlic Scapes! And speaking of our CSA, the first distribution went out last Saturday at the very first Dream Market!

The Market was a huge success, celebrating Juneteenth with black-owned vendors and artists, a DJ and live music, food vendors, kids activities, and more. We'll continue to host the market with Cultured AF every Saturday, 4:00-7:00 for the rest of the season and the first Saturday of each month will be a BIG block party. One of the things I'm most excited about is our "pay what you can" table, where FRESH is giving away vegetables and plants every week. If you have too much of something growing in your own garden, consider donating your extras to the table- it's a great way to support your community and cut down on food waste!

I hope to see you soon!!

cheers,
Davana

How charming and inviting is this scene? Our own Grace Amato is pictured above working our "pay what you can" table at the New London Dream Market. The signs say "Please Take What You Want...Please Donate What You Can." Come by and say hi to her and all our FRESH staff- we have three tables there: this one, our CSA distribution table, and the info booth. We'd love to see you!
