You TOO Can Become A Productivity Ninja

Over
the next few months, I’m going to share with you the productivity
programs, hacks and apps that I and my Virtual Assistant regularly use to
streamline our business.
I’d love to hear from YOU if you have a favorite … and be sure to tell me WHY you love it.
Many of you will have already figured out that I am a productivity “addict.” I am constantly testing new programs that can help me make each day go as smoothly and quickly as possible.
I have read well over a hundred books on productivity, starting decades ago with Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey.
I am a Productivity Ninja and never stop looking for, testing, reading, taking courses and finding new and better ways to work productively.
LOL One of my first learning curves on doing things faster started when I was 12 years old. By that time I had read the entire children’s library (not kidding) and my parents got me permission to take out “Adult” books. Even with that permission, the librarians some times freaked out over my choices. Can you believe they didn’t want me to read The Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank? My mom disagreed, and took the book out for me.
So back to productivity. I was already a fast reader. I saw a commercial on TV about speed reading. I begged my mom to get me the course. Surprisingly she did. I used the techniques over the years to get faster and faster.
Then I started adding on other productivity tricks and have never stopped learning since.
As a author YOU wear many hats .. From writer, to book marketer. From web master to social media content expert. All that AND feeding the kids!
This is why my first productivity tip is …
PRODUCTIVITY APP #1 ToDoist
ToDoist is basically a To Do List on steroids. It helps me keep track of my appointments, upcoming renewal dates and daily activities.
You can access it from your computer AND from your phone. It magically syncs so you don't have to worry about switching back and forth.
On Saturday, I spend one hour or so, deciding what I NEED to do and what I WANT to do in the following week. I create my ToDoist lists and block out my entire week.
One of the things about ToDoist that makes me smile is my ongoing “streaks.” For example ONE of my ongoing streaks is to learn at least one new thing every day. Some days this gets quite involved, but other days it means watching a 3 to 5 minute YouTube video.
Right now I am almost at 600 days in a row. When I reach 1000 days I am going to give myself several gallons of Ben & Jerry’s and then keep on going!
I have exercise streaks as well as (yuck) house cleaning streaks. I hate house cleaning of any kind but am tickled every time I click on DONE. This motivates me to JUST DO IT so I can keep up my daily streaks.
While ToDoist doesn’t necessary save me time, it keeps me on track and on purpose and helps me make sure that nothing important slips through the cracks. I never have to flap around trying to decide what to do next ... it is on the list!
I have ToDoist apps on both my computer and on my phone. It’s one of the best $36 USD I spend every year. HOW much are YOU willing to spend to save a hour a day?
ToDoist has a FREE program as well as a paid program. So don't be afraid to go and test it out to see if it works for YOU.
I started with FREE and soon after moved to paid because of the extra functionality … it is worth the few bucks I paid … and saves me hours of "trying to keep track of all my projects."
It really helps me DO more, simply because I know what's next. It also gives me peace of mind that commitments and appointments won't slip through the cracks.
Be sure to check it out; ToDoist
One of the productivity apps I discovered 70 weeks ago (yes I know the
exact date I started) saves me on average 8 to 14 hours a week. If
THAT tweeks your interest, be sure to open next weeks newsletter.
Have a fabulous day! Melanie
