One of the BIG reasons my customers tell me they don't want to set up an Author Blog or Newsletter is because they don't know how to maintain them ... what on earth can they write about when they are in the middle of writing their next book?
They consider themselves to be boring and don't want to bore their audience!
It's actually a valid concern because you have to create an intricate balance between promoting your books, having time to write your new books, and keeping your audience engaged while they are waiting for your next offering.
Here are a FEW ideas that you can use to engage your audience during the month of JUNE.
First of all, even if YOU don't have a book or series of books to "sell" your audience for Father's Day (June 19th) you can still give your audience ideas of some great gift ideas (books) they can get for their father.
For example, if you are a fan of thrillers, you can suggest a list of 10 great thrillers YOU have read and recommend. YOUR thriller series "may" be the first on the list.
If you write children's books, promoting them for Father's day probably won't work ... but chatting about what YOU read when you climb into bed might give your audience some great gift ideas.
But JUNE has a LOT more happening than just Father's day. Here is an amazing list of 76 ideas that you might be able to use, either as a Book Promotion idea OR just as something fun and quirky to write about.
You don't always have to be selling ... part of the customer retention process is just being in contact and giving your fans some insights into who YOU are, what you like and things that make you laugh (or cry).
This list is from Mailerlite and when you read though it you will probably find yourself astonished -- and rolling your eyes over some of the crazy things on the list. But if YOU snort, groan or laugh, so will YOUR audience.

My favorite is HUG YOUR CAT day. LOL I'll definitely be participating on June 4th.
Kid's authors might play around with Donald Duck Day and paranormal authors might want to do something on the week of Summer Solstice.
The bottom line is ... it DOESN'T always have be about YOUR books (though take advantage if there is an opening). Your blog posts and newsletters CAN express YOU and your interests and be fun, informative and entertaining!
