Plotting Problems?

If you have been following me for any time, you may remember my 100-Day: 100 Words A Day Writing Challenge.  Many of you joined me with your own 100-Day writing challenges.

MY 100-Day target was (after 40 years of writing only non-fiction) to finally complete my first romance novella.  The amazing thing was I actually finished the first draft of THREE short novels.

My biggest challenge was PLOT.  Even though the important thing in a romance, is the ROMANCE I still like books that have a good to great plot.

I started my romances by writing the "back cover."  When I am in a bookstore browsing, the title catches my eye, and the back cover sustains my interest.  After reading a few of the reviews I will either put the book down, or buy it.

So ... I started by writing the back cover.  Then I started writing, panster style.  I haven't yet published the books because though they are saleable, I want MORE plot.

HA!  So plot seems to be my sticking point.  I probably would have ten or more romance novels written and published by now if it weren't for plot.

Fast forward to me finding and purchasing two different sets of plot packages.

At first I was hesitant ... but then I realized that the same basic plot could result in TEN totally different books simply by changing the time frame and the setting.  1800's London.  1900's Scotland.  American Western. Add mystery component. Add paranormal component.  Sci-Fi Steam Punk.  Sci-Fi Dystopian.   I'm sure you've got the idea by now.

I am totally thrilled so far.   I am creating my own series, using the  Cooper Western Series  (I am changing this to a modern setting).

And I am using the 5 + 20 romance package to "test" the concept of outsourcing.  I KNOW myself well enough to understand that I will be doing a full edit on anything a freelancer writes for me, but I am hoping it will allow me to get a few romances published faster.

I am also using this package to get a few ideas to add to my first three books, so I can get them published.

IF you are challenged by plot, or need fast plots to outsource to other writers ... DO check out these packages:

The Cooper Brothers Fiction Plot Series  is a ten book series in a Western Setting.  When you visit the sales page you will be able to see exactly what you get with each of the plots.

I really LOVE the detail in these plots because they spark a lot of ideas.  I am actually thinking about getting a  year-long membership.   BUT I will be prudent and finish this series first!  LOL!

The second package is 5 Done-For-You Romance Fiction Plots.   On the first sales page you can purchase 5 different romance plots (these are NOT a series).  When you complete the first purchase, you will get a second offer of another 20 romance plots.  If you purchase both packages you are getting 25 plots for $40 ... which is about $1.60 each!

Have You Tried Scrivener yet?

Scrivener has changed my writing life.  I first downloaded it when I decided to write my first romance novel.

There are hundreds of comments on the Internet talking about how difficult it is to learn.  I lucked out because I heard about Scrivener through David Lee Martin ... who has an excellent FREE tutorial book and an amazing video course.  It took me less than two hours to have my book up and running and the first chapter written.

I then started using Scrivener for my non-fiction books AND for my blogs.  My productivity has literally gone up by 40 - 50 percent.  NOT kidding.  It helps me get organized and keep track of stuff I kept on losing before.  It helps me keep my research in one place where I can actually FIND it when I need it!

I LOVE IT.
