any time of the year.
So what exactly is all this Stuff
Your Kindle Day HYPE about?
IF I sound JADED, it is because I AM.
LOL at the same time I recognize
entrepreneurship at its best.
The woman who came up with this (brilliant) idea continues to get publicity,
and HUGE website traffic years after she launched the first Stuff Your Kindle
Day. It got so popular even Kindle
jumped on the band wagon
Now numerous book websites are running their own "Stuff Your" events
in order to capitalize on the huge traffic they can get to their
websites.
Here's the JADED part. What exactly do the authors
who put their books up for free on these "Stuff Your" days get out of
it?
Hmmmmm. I would guess close to
nothing.
Do they get thousands? Hundreds? Dozens of downloads?
I honestly have NO idea what the average participant would get in downloads. If YOU have participated In a "Stuff Your" event I'd love it if you would email me and
let me know your thoughts. Send me the
name of your book (I won't tell anyone), the genre/niche and the number of
downloads you got. Did you get any
reviews as a result?
The stats on getting reviews for free books are disappointing. Under 1%. This means you have to sell OVER
100 free books to get a review. NOTE: On Amazon a free book download is counted as a sale.
So add in the "Stuff Your" hype. In addition to the normal level of
reviews a free book might get, NOW you have people downloading dozens of free
books on the same day. What is the
likely hood that YOUR book will be first on someone's reading list? Will your book simply get lost in the
dozens or hundreds of free books on someone's Kindle?
Who else benefits from the "Stuff Your" events? LOL the dozens of TikTok and YouTube cuties
who talk too much because they get paid
for viewing time.
OK enough said.
What are FREE and 99cent days for?
There are actually a number of good reasons to run free or 99cent
promotions.
Check this article out and pay special attention to
#1 Your Promo Team
#2 Selling a Series and
#3 Your fans (mailing list and Blog).

PS I am a sucker for getting the first
book of a series for FREE, and then if I like it, purchasing the entire series
at one time. So I am at the top of the list
when I say that FREE does work!
PPSS I just checked my website stats. For some unknown reason, all of a sudden an article I wrote several years ago is trending. Go ahead ... take a peek >>> Does Grid Your Loins Mean What You Think It Means?
If you liked that, you'll also enjoy >>> Happier Than A Pig In Shit Have a great day. Be happier than a pig Enjoy all your FREE books Melanie
