August Reading Challenge.
What will you READ? What will YOU review?

If YOU don't purchase, read and review books -- why would you expect others to purchase, read and review YOUR books?
Several decades ago, I had a friend who kept on talking about writing a romance. She told me that most romances were terrible and that SHE would write a really good one.
After listening to this for well over a year I saw an ad for a romance writing course given by a local romance author. I challenged my friend to take the course, and to make sure she did, I offered to take it with her. My philosophy was, and still is ... you can always learn SOMETHING.
At the very beginning of the course the instructor asked us two questions. The first was, "what was the last romance book you read?" In preparation for the course I had read a Harlequin the night before so that was an easy answer. The next question was ... "what is your favorite romance book?" Mine was Gone With The Wind ... that's a no brainer because it was where the idea for my name came from.
My friend, I am embarrassed to say, admitted to never having read a romance book ... ever. Hmmmm why didn't I know that!
So here's the deal and it is a freaking IMPORTANT DEAL.
If you are going to be a successful author
you HAVE to read books. Period.
Here is MY reading list for this August ... I normally read about one book a day, most of them are fiction. This is my non-fiction list.
Read along with me OR make your own list. Keep cool indoors or enjoy a nice spot of shade outdoors. Just READ.
- I am going to be RE-READING the book Mind Management, Not Time Management: Productivity When Creativity Matters. This is an honest to God LIFE CHANGER.

- The same author has a book for "creatives" who need help getting their project, or themselves off the shelf. The Heart to Start: Stop Procrastinating & Start Creating.
- The purpose of this next book is to help me develop a method to keep TRACK of and more importantly FIND all my notes WHEN I need them.
I have thousand of notes stored haphazardly all over the place. Sometimes it takes me hours to find them. Most of the time I just give up. Because of all the fabulous reviews I've read, I am hoping this book will help me figure out something that works! Building a Second Brain: A Proven Method to Organize Your Digital Life and Unlock Your Creative Potential. You wouldn't believe the fanatical fans for this!
- 7 FIGURE FICTION: How to Use Universal Fantasy to SELL Your Books to ANYONE. LOL it's probably an easy guess WHY I'm getting this book .... and if you read the TOC and see this ... YOUR STEP-BY-STEP ACTION PLAN FOR INFUSING UF BUTTER INTO YOUR WRITING AND MARKETING HOW TO INTEGRATE UNIVERSAL FANTASY INTO EVERYTHING YOU DO ... you too might be inspired to get the book!
- I've been thinking about doing a podcast for quite some time. I am hoping Book #2 will give me enough of a kick in the butt to actually start DOING it and that this next book will help with the mechanics of it. How To Start Your Podcast: The Ultimate Beginners’ Guide To Podcasting.
That's it, my FIVE non-fiction books to read in August as well as dozens of as-of-yet unidentified fiction books.
