Sold!
We’re really happy that the people who bought our house seem like the perfect fit. It seems odd to say this but we want our house to be in good hands, even if we don’t live here any longer.
And maybe our house was energetically very picky about who it was going to allow to live in it moving forward, which is why it took so long to sell (who knows).
A long time ago, I realized that none of us really own anything. We are simply temporary caretakers.
So let’s do our best to leave things in better shape than when we found them.
If we treat our surroundings or possessions like shit, then how is that setting up the next owners for success?
Even though our house is now sold, we could just let it fall by the wayside.
Or we could pour our love into the house and leave it in the best possible condition for the next owners.
That’s the path I take.
This past week, we pulled weeds from the lawn, cut the grass, and made it look beautiful.
I love leaving things better than when I first found them. Whether that’s a house or a person - it’s the same thing for me.
And I share that because I want each of us to show up in everything we do with that ownership mentality. Because how we do anything is how we do everything.
I’m saddened when I see trash left on the grass or a frickin’ porta-potty pushed over on its side (yes, I’ve actually seen that twice).
People who do stuff like that would never have a chance in my world (or in the rest of the world for that matter).
And it’s usually a result of poor leadership.
Poor self-leadership...parenting (or lack thereof)...and peer pressure (from other kids who are terrible examples themselves).
And this is a big problem for MOST businesses and leaders too.
We will never be like them.
