Subject: Work smart, not hard (or both?)

The last few weeks have been hectic here, Friend

I’m in a building phase, and when this happens I obsess and don’t even stop to breathe.

Between building to scale my business, the recording and production of our weekly podcast, reading books, courses, listening to podcasts…

I’ve not only been working from morning coffee to head in the pillow at night with barely 30 minute breaks for meals, but I’ve been learning a lot about productivity and what actually moves the needle.

And I want to share some of these tips with you today.

How can you turn more of what you do into revenue?

This is far from new but can make all the difference if you’re building a business, especially on your own. It did for me.

You’ve surely heard of the Pareto principle…

How 20% of what you do produces 80% of the results and vice-versa.

Well, this applies to everything. Even marketing.

Where are you getting the majority of your revenue (paying clients, sales) from?

Is it from:

  • Cold DMs?

  • Cold emails?

  • Your content?

  • Your email list?

  • An inbound system?

Do more of it!

Move that to the 80% of your efforts until you hit a ceiling.

And I understand better than anyone the temptation to do new things and get distracted by shiny objects.

That’s ok.

There’s still a place for experimentation, and there’s nothing more important than diversification in marketing.

But use up 20% of your time in those activities.

“But Fran, I need to do other things in my business”

I know this thought is crossing your mind right now. I crossed mine too…

Here’s the answer:

Your business needs other activities done. It doesn’t need YOU to do them.

Find other people that can do them for you.

A book that helped me understand this was “10X is Easier than 2X”.

Another marketing concept that helps you achieve more with less is the idea of productizing services which we discussed this week in the LinkedIn Marketing Mastery Podcast with Jay Melone.

If you want to learn more about it, give it a listen on YouTube or Spotify.

Talk later, Friend.

Best,

Fran

P.S.: I’ve also started silencing (no vibration) my phone when I work.

It’s funny how the 1 minute here and there picking up the phone affects us way more than we imagine, especially as we constantly lose focus.

P.P.S.: Any productivity tips you’d like to share?
