It was 4 years ago this week that we opened up Fox Country Quilts in downtown Commerce.
Initially, our purpose was to provide longarm education to quilters because, in our experience, there was no one or any other dealer we could find in Northeast Texas to fully train us on our first longarm.
We understand how difficult it is to learn quilting with only an hour of button-pushing training or at an education event where there is a lot of demonstration and very little hands-on learning.
Chip and Donna got the button pushing "training" and got extremely frustrated when we realized that the quilt shop from which we purchased our machine was not going to help us any further. We are thankful that Diann Oakes Loper was able to provide us with a lesson or two to get us started in our longarm journey!
When Donna retired from TX A&M University-Commerce, it gave us an opportunity to start our longarm education center and offer a little bit of fabric and notions to our local community and surrounding communities.
You all surprised us with your excitement and support for the quilt shop! And it soon became apparent that not only did you need and want longarm education, but you also wanted a full quilt shop. We have grown and expanded as a quilt shop, education center, and added the retreat center just three miles outside of Commerce because of you! Thank you for your trust and support!
We are looking forward to bringing you more education, quilting supplies, and fun times retreating with you and all other quilters who need a place to learn, shop, and grow in your own quilting journey.
