We All Loved Orange Friday & Saturday
Dear Friends,
Been quite busy in the shop, and I missed sending out an e-mail on Sunday. The big thing that happened, of course, was our Orange Friday / Orange Saturday event. It was lots of fun and a total success because of all the people who came in. I didn’t count them, but during much of the time, we must have had maybe 15 people or more in the shop.
On our classroom tables, we had regular sewing machines (both light-weight traveling machines, and high-end super machines), combination sewing/embroidery machines, and sergers. In the middle of the shop, were all the longarms. With each machine there was a simple project for people to create, projects that were fast and could easily be completed in maybe half an hour to an hour. So everyone had the opportunity to try out lots of different machines.
Donna, Penny, Kim, and Jo Ella went around helping people get started and to understand how their machine worked. They were able to show people the unique features of each machine as it applied to their projects. There were no let-ups during the day until it was over, so Donna, Penny, Kim, and Jo Ella were all on the verge of collapse at the end of each day. But they loved it!
And the Grinch! The genuine nasty wasty Grinch was here for most of both days, circulating among everyone and added a great deal to the fun every had. He tried to sneak out with some of the machines, but we caught him, turned him upside-down, and recovered all the purloined items he had stowed in his bag.
Donna and I talked about it Sunday evening and decided this is going to be an annual event. Everyone, staff, visitors, and the Grinch can now mark it on their calendars for the 2024 Orange Friday and Orange Saturday event. So if you missed this first one, be sure to mark your own calendar for next year, the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, and come join in this fantastic event.
