Ribbit . . How FCQ All Started
Dear Friends,
So last night, I dreamed I was a frog. Basic green bullfrog. From what I saw in my water reflections, I was a nice specimen as far as frogs go, and my mirror concurred with:
In all the ponds
In every bog
You’re the best
You handsome dog
Cool, but I was still a lone frog. One day Donna came walking by. Filled with compassion for the lowly state of a fine amphibian, she felt compelled to give me a kiss. Suddenly, poof, I was changed into a marginally-handsome prince.
Extended conversations followed. I described pond life to her and experiences from when I was a tadpole. Donna told me about her university teaching and other past experiences, and especially about her interest and ability in quilting using a longarm quilting machine and the Pro-Stitcher robotic system.
She was sad, however, because she heard of so many people who had bought longarms, succumbing to the excitement at a quilt shop during a hyped-up “training session” sales pitch. But many were never educated in how to use their machines, never had support, and their machines sat unused.
We decided together we would be active in doing something about the problem. We would open a longarm quilting education center that could take people all the way from absolute beginner to genuine mastery in using their longarms, their Pro-Stitcher, and in learning how to quilt. We would sell the machines too, offering people the best benefits and making sure none of our customers ever lacked support and education. We would never just drop them after a sale. Our focus, no matter what, even as the shop grew, would always be on quilting education.
And so that is what we have done and what we do! That is the purpose and passion of Fox Country Quilts, not just in post-frog life, but in real life.
