Subject: Our Row-by-Row Entry

July 11, 2023

Dear Friends,

Just to see what some of this year’s Row-By-Row entries looked like, I Googled for“2023 Row by Row Experience.”  One of the items that came up was here:  https://www.facebook.com/rowbyrowexperience/    Scrolling down a few spots, you come to a a panel that says “Seven Sisters Quilt Shop has a Winner: Congratulations to Rachel S from Ionia, Michigan. “  The photo has Rachel standing next to her quilt, and for the bottom row of her quilt she chose one she bought from us, Fox Country Quilts!  Whee!

The row by row theme this year was “Summertime”.  Donna and Pam designed our row-by-row entry, which turned out to be very appealing.  It features two sand dunes, the ocean in the background, and then the sky.  On the sand dunes and in the water are a seahorse, a starfish, a perch (?), sandals, a crab and a toy bucket and shovel.  To be included in a nationally recognized quilting contest was a neat attainment.

On a personal basis, I think if Donna and Pam had gone with my idea, it may not have had such an honor.

I envisioned having a kid sitting on the ground with his knees pulled up to his chin.  Holding a flashlight, He would be shaking in nervous fear.  Behind him would be a wooded area with a pair of eyes looking out.  Above the kid and woods would be a sign saying “snipe hunt.”  Who knows, it might have won!   Have to tell you, Donna was not impressed with the idea.

Entering row-by-row projects is something that a lot of quilt shops do every year.  If you have the opportunity to take a driving trip this time of year, it’s always a lot of fun to stop in at as many quilt shops as you can to view and buy their row entry.

We still have our kits in the shop.  Once you see it, you will love it and want to make it and hang it somewhere in your workshop.  It really is a winner.  While you’re at it, take a look at all the other quilt kits, as well as embroidery kits, we offer.  You’re sure to find one or more “you just have to have!”
