Dear Friends,
Donna is back home! That’s the big and important news. My favorite news. She and Pam left Salt Lake City at noon yesterday, and it was a 24-hour drive for her and Pam to get back here. Donna dropped Pam off at her house first, and arrived here around noon. Soon as we said our “Glad you’re back,” “missed you” sorts of statements, hugged big and kissed, Donna announced she’s going straight to bed. Still in bed as I write this, and am truly happy she’s back home.
Penny and I had quite a tough day of it Monday, problems that actually started last Friday. Quilting edge-to-edge on a small practice quilt like I use for longarm certification training, the Amara 20 machine wouldn’t track right. Quilt a row, and the next row should be evenly spaced with the first row, and then the same again between every row. Instead, the between-row gaps were getting bigger as the quilting advanced to the right. HandiQuilter tech said my Y-motor is giving out, and they are sending a new one to arrive in a few days. So there was one machine down.
Then Monday we had two longarm renters, who both made good starts on the machines they were using, the Amara 24 and the Infinity. Storm came up, we had an electrical blip, and it affected both machines. The affects were different but were such that both renters ended up picking out a part of their quilts. We do have other longarms in the shop, but the frames are smaller. They needed the larger frames, 10 and 12-foot.
It’s Wednesday now, and we have both the 24 and the Infinity back in working order, but it sure was a bummer of a renting day for the two ladies. They will return for a second rental day as their schedules permit, and of course won’t have to pay for it again.
We seldom have any machines down, so never had to deal with three machines all down at the same time. A person can do without that kind of experience.
